For Always

Cover Reveal

“For Always” Coming November 2013…

* Book #1 in the For Always Series *

Malyn Reed meets, and quickly falls in love with, Beau Brogan, who seems to be perfect in every way…

Except for the fact that he died in 1910…

Malyn Reed has been able to see spirits her entire life. Now that she’s almost seventeen, she has learned to differentiate between the living and the dead, making her gift feel less like an evil curse. She ignores the spirits she encounters on a daily basis, which has made living side by side with them slightly easier…until she moves to Dandridge, the second oldest town in Tennessee.

Beau Brogan was a hard working country boy from Dandridge, Tennessee who loved his family and stole the hearts of many southern belles. But all of that came to a tragic halt at the age of nineteen when his life came to an untimely end. For the past hundred years, his spirit has been entombed in a ghostly life of loneliness and misery that he wishes would just end…until the Reeds move in.

WELCOME AUTHOR
Janae Mitchell

Author bio:
Janae has been a writer since she was old enough to hold a pencil. Her genre of choice was poetry and short stories—until now. After falling in love with so many books over the past decade, she decided that she wanted to write a novel of her own and bring life to the characters that haunt her mind. It wasn't until 2012 that she pursued that passion and started on her first YA novel. 115,000 words later, For Always was born.
Having grown up in an historical Dandridge home that was used as slave quarters during the Civil War, she experienced several things that couldn't be explained. Due to these events, she sought out and joined an investigative team called Eyewitness Paranormal. Her interest in ghosts and the unexplained, combined with her love for telling a story, made writing the For Always series inevitable.
Janae was born and raised in East Tennessee, where she currently resides with her husband, two children, and their hairless dog, Slick. In her spare time, she likes to read, play tennis, and spend time with her family on the lake.

Current book or project you’re working on:

What was the inspiration for your novel?
I grew up in a home that was slave quarters during the Civil War and we experienced things that were unexplained, which lead to my interest in the paranormal. Being a paranormal investigator for several years, I knew that my first novel had to be about ghosts; I just didn’t realize that my ghost would soon capture my, and hopefully my reader’s, heart.

Please share three interesting facts about your book which are not covered in the synopsis.
1) Malyn’s parents are dead and she lives with her Grandmother, Nellie, who is a country-singing free spirit who I adore.
2) Malyn’s best friend’s brother, Jace Stone, causes a bit of a love triangle.
3) The entire book takes place during one summer when Malyn moves from the bid city of Nashville to the small, quiet town of Dandridge, where her life will change forever.

Who is the most complex character from your current novel?
I would say it’s a toss up between the two main characters, Beau and Malyn. They both have struggles and conflicts that most normal (and living) people don’t have.

Are there any characters in your book that remind you of yourself?
If I had to pick one, it would probably be Malyn. I put a little bit of me into her.

If you could pick any well known or famous author to review your book who would you pick and why?
I would pick Becca Fitzpatrick or Lisa McMann because I love their writing style.
Genre/Author/Reader:

What genre does your book fall into?
YA paranormal fiction.

What is the first book you remember reading, that affected how you thought or felt about something?
The very first book I remember reading that has stuck with me to this day is The Dollhouse Murders by Betty Wren Wright.
Which three authors have inspired you the most, and why?
1) J.K. Rowling — Her life story, to go from where she was to where she is now, is amazing.
2) Stephen Marion — He is a local author and family acquaintance and when I went to his book signing many years ago and heard him read from his book to a captivated audience, it sparked a desire in me to want to do the same.
3) Lauren Kate — She’s awesome.

Have you ever read a book you couldn’t finish reading?
Yes, yes I have.

Do you read a book, while you are writing a book?
I didn’t at first, thinking it would make me lose focus. But then I volunteered to do a blog tour for a fellow author and had to read her book, which made me realize that I can read while I write. It has actually become a welcomed break from my own mind.
The process:

How many books have you written? Which book is your favourite and why?
For Always is my debut novel and is the first book in the series.

Is there anything that helps get you in the mood to write?
Music. I always thought it was weird that so many writers thank certain bands for inspiring them, but I’ve become one of those writers.

What were three challenges you faced when writing your book?
1) Finding time to write
2) Making sure I include ‘me’ time (which I still don’t do)
3) Trying not to let my book consume me. I’m usually consumed by books, but when it’s your own, it’s a hundred times worse.

What lessons have you learned as an aspiring writer?
With this being my debut novel, I have learned so, so much. My first lesson was to not doubt myself, because if I had, I would have missed out on fulfilling one of my biggest dreams.

Do you ever experience writer’s block? If so what helps you to ‘overcome’?
Yes and I hate it! But luckily it didn’t last long. When it happens, I just take a step back, try to relax, and re-evaluate where I want the story to go, and it usually comes to me. I’ve had my best plot twist ideas while laying out in the sun, which is when I’m most relaxed.

What is the most important thing you’ve learned, either in the self-publishing or traditional publisher, route?
There are so many things involved in publishing a book, from editing to cover design and everything in between, and I couldn’t imagine doing it on my own, especially with a debut novel. I am so glad to have the support of not only my publisher, but my editor and the other Limitless Publishing authors as well.

How long does it usually take for you to complete a book?
For Always took almost a year with several long breaks here and there. Book two, that I’m working on now, is going much faster.

Do you have any ideas for your book and Hollywood? Actors, directors, music.
I haven’t even thought about that, to be honest. But one thing I do know, without having to think about, would be the music—Crossfade and SafetySuit would definitely have to be a part of it.

Which book to movie conversion is your favourite?
Without a doubt, Harry Potter is my favorite and will most likely always be my favorite.
Do you watch a lot of science fiction or fantasy movies?
To be honest, I’m not a big movie person. But I do love the classic 80’s movies and books made to movies.

Do you study science, the planets, history or anything special to help you with your writing?
I have had to do some research about things that were common during the late 1800’s, since that is when Beau was actually alive.
What, who, and when were you first inspired you to write?
I remember writing short stories for my mom when I was little, as well as poetry as a teenager. I don’t know what prompted my stories, but my parent’s divorce had a hand in the poetry.
